Preliminary Response
I am pleased with the enthusiastic reception given this book by those who so far have read it. I hope that my next book, a commentary on Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, for which I am currently seeking a publisher, will be equally well received.
Dr. Beal earned his B.S. degree with a major in Zoology at the University of Arizona and his Ph.D. degree in Entomology at the University of California, Berkeley. His career includes teaching Systematic Theology at Denver Seminary, employment as a research entomologist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and stationed at the Smithsonian Institution, serving as an Associate Professor of Zoology at Arizona State University, and as Professor of Zoology and Dean of the Graduate College at Northern Arizona University. Currently he and his wife live in Prescott, AZ, where he teaches an adult Bible class at the First Baptist Church. He is also a sinner saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
"Dr. Richard S. Beal, Jr., is both a scientific and a Biblical scholar. In The Grand Canyon, Evolution, and Intelligent Design he applies his areas of expertise to the vexing question of origins and originating processes. He proposes a new paradigm to deal honestly with both the scientific work of evidence and the Biblical revelation. This work is the rich fruit of decades of study and reflection." - Rev. Gerald Winkleman, Ph.D. Academic Vice President, (ret.), Fresno Pacific University
"The author of this significant volume has given a brilliant, refreshing, and challenging perspective to the current controversy between the scientific doctrine of evolution and the Biblical doctrine of Creation. Dr. R.S. Beal, Jr., is a thoroughgoing Evangelical with intensive theological training. But he is also a recognized and accomplished scientist and has spent most of his life in higher education." - L. David Beckman, Th.D. President Emeritus, Colorado Christian University
